Javanon’ 94 fell just short of capturing a U.S. Youth Soccer national league title in Weston, Fla. recently.
Jason Bell’s Louisville charges finished their first season the league with a very creditable 4-1-2 record.
However, the U17 boys would have won themselves the Blue Division championship had they been able to find a winner against league rival Tulsa of Oklahoma in a game which ended 1-1.
Javanon fell behind to TSC in the 58th minute, but hit back 12 minutes later when Lindo Mfeka netted to put the final 20 minutes on edge.
In its other games, Javanon beat PSC Coppa of Pennsylvania by a 4-2 scoreline, and finished out the weekend losing 2-0 to Annandale United of Virginia.
TSC now secures a berth in this summer’s US Youth Soccer National Championships in Arizona, but Javanon, currently ranked fifth in the nation by Gotsoccer.com, can still make it there by going the traditional route via the state and regional tournaments.
Next up for the boys is a trip to Dulles, Virginia this weekend for the highly ranked Annandale Premier Cup from March 11-13, while they will kick off their Midwest Regional League campaign in April.
