Jeffersonville was beaten 5-0 by Washington in the IHSAA soccer tournament semistate semifinal today. Washinton went on to play Evansville Memorial (who beat East Central 3-0) in the final tonight, with Memorial winning 2-0. They will now play in next Saturday’s state finals at Kuntz Stadium in Indianapolis.
In the girls’ semistate final, Columbus North — coached by former Jeffersonville player Mike Spock and conquerers of Providence — beat Castle 4-2 to earn a place at next week’s state finals, aided by a Kayleigh Steigerwalt hat-trick. The Bull Dogs had beaten Bloomington North earlier in the day by a 3-0 scoreline.
