Mixed bag of results at Midwest Championships

The first day at the U.S. Youth Soccer Midwest Region II Championships saw a mixed bag of results for Louisville teams.

The most convincing victory came courtesy of Javanon ’94, who beat Chicago Fire Jnrs. North Red by a 4-1 scoreline in the U17 age group, with goals from Neil Henley (2), Lindo Mfeke and Kyle Krause.

Javanon ’92, two time national finalists, also got off to a good start with a 2-0 win over Green Bay of Wisconsin.

United 1996 had two wins, with its U13s beating Thunder Academy of Minnesota 2-1, and the U18s getting the better of Wisconsin’s Elm Grove 2-1. United 1996’s U15s tied with MUS Black of Minnesota, while its U16s were edged out 2-1 by Indiana’s Carmel United.

Over on the girls’ side, Javanon’s ’97 Black was the only winning team from the area, with a 3-1 victory over KC Blaze Blue Angels. Mockingbird Premier U18s tied with Eclipse Select of Illinois to keep its hopes alive of qualification for the semifinal stages.
