St Xavier is the last remaining Louisville team in the KHSAA boys’ state tournament after a 4-1 victory over Louisville Collegiate tonight.
The game was tied 1-1 at halftime, but the Tigers (25-1-1) came out roaring in the second half to score three times to overcome The Titans, so far the only team to beat St Xavier this year, back on August 24.
Andy Schulten’s troops now march onto the final four at Paul Laurence Dunbar School, where they will play Henry Clay on November 2 (8 p.m.). The final will take place on November 5.
Tomorrow night it’s the turn of Louisville’s two remaining girls’ teams — unranked Male (15-10) and No.12 Sacred Heart (11-10-3) — to battle it out for the Section Two championship at the home of the Lady Bulldogs (7 p.m.).
The winner will move onto the final four, where they will take on the winner of Bowling Green and Daviess County at Paul Laurence Dunbar HS on November 3.
